Sustainable fishing – for the ocean’s future

Artisanal fishing 1

Mar Barroso has been able to further improve our octopus quality and maintain it throughout the seasons in recent years thanks to the investment in our own cold storage/freezing plants in all three origins: Spain, Mauritania and Morocco. Our seafood travels directly from the beach to our own warehouses and we can verify its origin and history of responsible production as we do not use intermediaries.

90% of our octopus is 1st class Japan; our aim is to always offer you the best quality. 10% of our octopus is glasier. 10% of our octopus is glasier.

Small-scale artisanal fishing is our commitment

Artisanal fishing 2

To secure our quality—1st class Japan—the octopus is collected directly from the beaches and taken freshly caught to our own cold storage warehouses for classification by our Korean inspectors; immediately afterwards it is frozen.

From here we deliver raw materials around the globe and to our factory in Huelva where we only boil top-quality octopus.

Mar Barroso ensures the well-being of our warehouse employees, contributes to the well-being of fishermen and the sustainability of the local economy, and promotes the adoption of more sustainable fishing methods.
